Heaven

What if the most anticipated destination in all of human history is also the least understood and the least prepared for? That is exactly the tension we explore as we open the pages of John 14 and hear Jesus speak directly to troubled hearts. He does not promise a trouble-free life, but he does promise something far more powerful: an untroubled heart. Heaven, according to Scripture, is not a comforting idea invented to ease our fear of death. It is a real, tangible city with a location, a description, and a foundation built from some of the rarest jewels found on earth. John's vision in Revelation 21 pulls back the curtain and shows us walls of jasper, gates of pearl, streets of pure gold, and a city that needs no sun because the glory of God himself is its light. We are not dealing in poetry or metaphor here. We are dealing in the language of a place that exists right now, in what the Bible calls the third heaven, beyond the sky we see and beyond the outer space we explore. Understanding that heaven is real changes everything about how we live today.
